Fastnet Sails is a small craft business. Extreme care is given to every single job, whether it is a small dinghy sail or consistent project.
We normally measure your boat to make sure your new sails have the best fit. It is also the opportunity to meet on board to discuss your real needs. If we can’t come to your boat, we give entire support to help you take the measurements.
The loft is equipped with a whole range of sewing machines. In 2005, we invested in brand new high performance machines, one being pneumatic, with computerized motor. Lately, we have acquired some second hand extra heavy duty machines. Each machine is tuned for its own type of work, to insure quality stitching along with time efficiency.
We use carefully selected sailcloth. Dacron is supplied by Hood Textile. This is one of the best sail cloths available to sail makers. It is woven in Clonakilty. Thread and hardware is also selected to suit your type of navigation. With a tendency to always add a bit extra.
From the design of the sail to its finish touch, we proceed to various quality checks. After bounding, each seem is controlled before sewing. The thickness of reinforcements is measured to be in accordance with guidelines.
When a sail is finished, we take some time to make sure every detail has been done to your requirements.
In the very unlikely event of a flaw in a sail , our customers benefit from a full guaranty. We will put it right for you.
